Lauryn Spohn, DVM

Dr. Lauryn Spohn has been practicing for the past 10 years here in New Mexico. She has worked for a number of practices and also performed shelter and relief work around the Albuquerque area, including Bernalillo, Placitas, Edgewood, Santa Fe and more. She found her calling with mobile veterinary care about 5 years ago and now loves being able to offer even more services to her wonderful clients with a clinic in Bernalillo. With a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University and special recognition for her work and understanding of the human-animal bond, she aims to enhance and prolong the relationship that exists between pets and their owners. Her emphasis centers around providing quality care and open communication. She believes in multiple options and treatments for any given case and is prepared to go over the options thoroughly. Every relationship that exists between a pet and their owner is unique. She believes it is that special quality that allows us all to do what is best for our pets. Dr. Spohn currently lives in Placitas with her son, Dezmond, and two dogs, Lollipop and Deagle. Recently, with the help of many others, she created a foundation to help assist owners that need financial assistance with their pets. She has a passion for culture and performing arts, specifically musicals… and on occasion, you’ll find her singing along to a favorite children’s tune.

Sonja Sims, DVM

Dr. Sonja Sims is a third generation New Mexican who grew up in the Albuquerque area. Sonja lives with her partner John, beautiful son Jackson,beautiful daughter Storrie, dog Fraidy Cat Sundance the Kid, two cats Mr. Shabatz and Chile, and a noisy and beloved Blue Fronted Amazon cleverly named Blue.Dr. Sims received her Bachelors of Science from the University of New Mexico in 2008 and went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2012. While at CSU, Sonja was the Colorado State Veterinary Schools Holistic Club President for two years. In an attempt to balance her academic work load with a healthy work life balance Sonja played multiple intermural sports including soccer and basketball, and developed a love of hot yoga.Dr. Sims has a special interest in animal nutrition and pain management and incorporates both Eastern and Western modalities in her practice.Dr. Sims is a certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist and currently treats dogs, cats, birds, and horses. In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Sims has studied herbs and nutrition for the past 10 years.In her spare time, Sonja loves spending as much time as possible with her family. In addition she loves to cook and garden, hike, and watch movies.

Gayla Ramey

Gayla is a native of New Mexico who after spending several years in Colorado and Utah, moved back to the Land of Enchantment in 2011. Gayla has always been an animal lover & strongly believes in the animal/human bond. Gayla and her husband Max have an Irish Terrier named Maggie who keeps them very busy. They also enjoy gardening, spending time outdoors and traveling.

Susan Ruel

Susan grew up overseas in England and comes from a military family.  She moved to Albuquerque in 2006.  Susan started working as a cleaner at a veterinary clinic in 2008 where she met Dr. Spohn and Jodi.  After involving herself with different types of jobs and responsibilities with different employers, Susan always found her way back to animals.  With over 5 years experience in the vet world her love and passion for animals has only grown.  Susan also partakes in many house-sitting jobs and caring for client's fur babies!  Susan lives with her boyfriend Mike and her five dogs.
